Feelings of tension, fear and worry are a normal response of body and mind to danger and stress of any kind and is necessary for survival. It is rooted in our fight-and-flight response which saved us from the danger of that “tiger in the wood”. This stress-response is designed to cause biochemical changes in the body to make us able to act and to deal with any challenges i.e. to run away to safety. While this stress response is vital for survival, it is designed to be of short duration – to get us out of danger – followed by decrease of released stress hormones and other related body chemicals.

Modern life stressors rarely involve running away from large animals, instead stress is often present over longer periods of time, which then causes imbalanced stress hormones, which can lead to all sorts of issues. These changes in the body may be the cause to experiencing more intense reactions then expected, including tension, worry and fear, to every-day situations

Stress can have many faces, and perception of stress is different from person to person. That’s why it is so important that we stay connected with our body, mind and soul to take care of ourselves and others.

To do this we could enjoy practicing deep belly breathing, mindfulness and awareness, including meditation. These can be very helpful tools to support our emotional wellbeing. Nourishing the nervous and hormonal system with well-researched herbal and nutritional supplements will also help to bring more balance back:
